One of our partner ministries is the newly formed Kings Lodge located on Alexander Creek, which is only currently accessible via float-plane. The ministry was incorporated as a nonprofit this past May, and since then the team has been working on lodge repairs including some new steel roofs, some renovated outhouses, generator repairs, and the list goes on.
The main objective of the ministry is to provide a faith based re-entry program for Alaska Native men who are leaving prison but do not have a place to stay due to parole requirements and their home villages being in remote Alaska. The first phase of the program is to provide safe lodging which will include constructive work training, biblical counseling, and mentoring in God's word.
The ministry is looking for additional short-term, part-time, and full-time staff to work as discipleship mentors for the men, who feel the Lord's calling to serve in a challenging environment. The location has lodging but still is in need of many repairs to provide improved heating, indoor plumbing, and an inverter power system. This is a rustic location and lifestyle but provides an excellent location to disciple the men without the distractions or temptations of the road system.
The objective of the program is to build the men up in the Word of God and practical life skills so that they can then be a blessing to their home villages at the completion of the program.
