Servant Focus: Mike Sidders

Mike has been serving with GCA in Big Lake, Alaska since its inception six years ago. Mike serves as the director of operations, coordinating the full time staff and various part time volunteers in areas of maintenance and air lift. The ministry has accomplished its initial goal of transporting staff and youth from the widespread villages to Kokrine Hills Bible Camp on the Yukon River in central Alaska. Since that time, it has expanded its ministry to include Bible studies and VBS trips to villages including Tyonek and Mountain Village near Bethel.
The aircraft operated by GCA are merely tools to assist in doing the work Christ has commanded - go into all the world and proclaim the gospel.
So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.
1 Corinthians 3:7 NASB
Mike's Testimony:
For over twenty years of church attendance, I never had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I first heard about God's incredible gift of Salvation through my brother, who had accepted Jesus and was eager to share his faith with me. I was dumbfounded as he explained God’s love for me and the fact that I was eternally separated from God because of my sin, but that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for my sin through His death on the cross and then conquered sin by rising from the dead to intercede to the Father on our behalf. I didn’t need convincing that I was a sinner and responded without hesitation. My wife, Lisa, also received God's gift of salvation that day. While I often regret wasting so many years of my life, I look back now and realize God was preparing me to serve Him.
The last eight years I have had a constant hunger for His Word and have been in a church that teaches the Bible without apology. The financial losses we have experienced over the past six years to serve the Lord at GCA are welcome in light of the strong relationship I have developed with the Lord. I realize the cost of discipleship is very high and many forsake Him to enjoy the easy life here on earth. I am so excited about the gospel of Jesus Christ and I intend to spend the rest of my life proclaiming it.
When I ponder the tough times we go through, I consider one of my favorite verses of the Bible, Romans 8:28 “and we know that God causes all things to work together for good, to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” All things, everything, no mistakes, no regrets…all things for good and for His glory. My life is now His, and I will serve Him in whatever capacity He places me.
